Painting Silicone Dolls: Tutorial Roundup!

Angelina Bruno·December 15, 2022

You've done it! You've chosen your beautiful reborn kit, and now you want to try your hand at painting. But what next? You'll need a guide!

Below are some excellent tutorials on how to paint your silicone reborn kit.

In this video series below, artist Carolyn Doughty outlines what materials, pigments, and mottling applicators to use, and shows viewers how to paint too!

Part One:

Part Two:

Part Three:

If you learn better via reading than watching,  you'll love these written tutorials from Tom McLaughlin. These tutorials are posted on MacPherson Crafts website, a very reputable source for paints, silicones, reborn kits, and more.

This tutorial series covers painting techniques, supplies, powdering, staining and so much more! Super helpful stuff!

Pro Tip: since painting can be so daunting, I suggest trying your hand on some silicone tester faces before you dive into painting your silicone kit doll. Sculpted by Bonnie Sieben, and poured by me, they make for a more low pressure way to try out the skills you've learned from these tutorials above, while using the same surface you'll have when you get to work on your baby.
